The tour

This September, the Where is arthritis? provincial tour will raise awareness and encourage people to take action regarding arthritis. We will be stopping in communities throughout BC to conduct special events, arthritis workshops and screenings to inform, educate, and support British Columbians living with or affected by arthritis. Arthritis attacks 1 in 6 people in BC — that means it affects all of us.

Visit the calendar to find out when we will be in your community and participate in a Where is arthritis? provincial tour workshop and/or diagnostic screening.

Our goal for this tour is to make British Columbians aware of four issues related to health care for people living with arthritis:

AWARENESS: Arthritis is among the top three chronic diseases in Canada, affecting people of all ages. It can be devastating, debilitating, and fatal.

EQUITABLE CARE: Wherever they live, British Columbians deserve a consistent standard of diagnosis, care, and funding for arthritis and related issues.

EDUCATION: Health professionals must have access to appropriate medication and treatment strategies for effective arthritis disease management. Early diagnosis is critical to prevent permanent and crippling damage to the body.

PREVENTION: Physical activity, weight management and appropriate medication are key strategies for better arthritis disease management to reduce disability costs and improve quality of life for British Columbians with arthritis.
